"Not only do I use Microns (mostly 005 and 01) for ALL my illustrations and lettering,

but I also promote them in my “Illustrated Travel Journaling Kit.” The tote contains among other things, the Koi Watercolor Field Kit, Sakura Glue Pen, and Micron pens 01 and 05. Obviously I love Sakura products.

When my first book, Very California, was published I sent it to Sakura with a note that I had used their Micron pens for the illustrations and lettering. I simply thought they might get a kick out of it.  They did, and we’ve been friends ever since."

Besides being a professional author, illustrator, and graphic designer, Diana Hollingsworth Gessler is also a fine artist working in oils and watercolors and has been represented by Shaw Gallery of Naples, Florida for twenty years.

Algonquin Books publishes a series of travel books in Diana’s signature journal style of hand-lettered, informative, colorful charm as seen through the eyes of an inquisitive artist. The series includes; Very California, Very Charleston, Very New Orleans, and Very Washington DC. A fifth book, The Sampoerna Legacy was a privately commissioned work documenting an Indonesian family’s 100-year-old history.

She also has taught her unique class, “The Art of Illustrated Travel Journaling” in the US and abroad and as an on-line class through Artful Gathering. Diana continues to paint and teach and is currently working on a privately commissioned children’s book series.
